About The Owner (and pets):
I am a lifelong lover and caretaker of animals, so it was with much pleasure that I embarked on a career in pet sitting. A lover of animals couldn't ask for a better career.
Besides loving animals and liking to be around them, I've also always been fascinated with all things animal - different types of animals, how animals interrelate to each other, animal behavior, history of domestic animals, etc., but most of all, how animals think. Scientists are just now starting to explore the realm of animal emotions, and are putting a finger on what many of us have known for years, animals have feelings.
I take this interest and love of animals to work with me when I visit my clients - your pets. I take their emotional, social, and behavioral needs into account while I'm attending to their physical needs like food and water. Our pets are communicating with us all the time by their body language and behavior, and if we can understand what they are "saying" then we can respond appropriately, and everyone's happy.
Right now, I have two pets I can call my own, a 4 year old, yellow
Lab named Gus, and my 14 year old, part Siamese part Manx, cat,
Luther. We share a blissful existence in a cozy brick house in
Tukwila which is nestled in a tiny oasis of trees next to the
hustle and bustle of the freeways and the mall.
Luther has been with me ever since he was a kitten, and we've weathered many a storm together. He has an intense personality and attitude which, I think, comes from his Siamese-Manx mix. He was very active when he was young, and a bit of a terror, but nowadays he's pretty mellow. He hasn't minded too much that I do my office work in a bedroom that he used to have to himself, and seems to enjoy keeping me company while I take care of business. Like most cats, he thinks that the world revolves around him, and prefers to think of himself as the master of the house. This is probably why he never has warmed up to Gus, and who couldn't like Gus?
Gus is the happiest, nicest dog I have ever known. I could be a little biased though. He treats Luther with the respect due an elder statesman despite the hisses. Labs are, generally, friendly and fun loving though, so he's also just living up to his breeding. This is very apparent when it comes to fetching. There's nothing in this whole world that means more to Gus than playing fetch. Not even the power of cheese can deter Gus from his soul mission in life, to fetch and retrieve things. Thankfully, he doesn't stay in "fetch mode" all the time, so he has time to enjoy the other pleasures in life like gnawing on a bone or getting his tummy scratched.
Gus will be helping me from time to time as I make the rounds pet sitting, and we look forward to meeting lots of new people and their pets. I will continue to make updates to this site as Home Turf grows and develops, so stay tuned.
